Henry County Outdoor Education Partnership, Inc.

On December 1, 2006, the Henry County Outdoor Education Partnership, Inc. was formed as a non-profit corporation.  The purpose of the corporation is to provide education to the public regarding wetlands, wildlife, conservation, and natural resources.  It was also formed to engage in educational, scientific, and charitable activities.

The Henry County Water Authority in partnership with the Henry County Board of Education collaborates on outreach programs for the public.  The Board of Directors is comprised of at least one Officer who is an employee of the Henry County Water Authority and one who is an employee of the Henry County Board of Education.

Currently, the HC Outdoor Education Partnership funds “Cubihatcha Kids”, an annual event that began in 2002 and hosts over 3,000 3rd-grade students of Henry County Public Schools at the Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center.  Every Fall, students engage in a variety of STEM-related activities involving water conservation, the ecology of watersheds, and the natural wildlife.

The HC Outdoor Education Partnership also funds "Kids Fishing Day", an annual event that began in 2022 and hosts a free day of fishing at the Henry County Water Authority’s Long Branch Reservoir for Henry County youth and families.

As we move forward, we aspire to extend this partnership to fund additional HCWA events in the future, with the aim of enriching the experiences we offer through donations to the corporation.
