HCWA Board of Directors Selects Officers to Serve in 2024

By unanimous vote during the January HCWA Board Meeting, the six-member Authority Board selected District 1 Member Warren Holder to serve as Chairman this year.

In addition, District 4 Member Sandra Rozier will continue to serve as Vice Chair, while District 5 Member Myra Lott will continue in her role as Secretary/Treasurer.

Rounding out the 2024 HCWA Board is District 2 Member Bruce Holmes, District 3 Member Jimmy Carter, and At-Large Member Fred Mays.

Mr. Holder is the owner of Warren Holder Equipment, LLC in Locust Grove. He is a former Henry County Commissioner who has served on the HCWA Board since January of 2017. This is his first time serving as Chairman of the HCWA Board.

“I’m honored to be selected as Chairman of the Water Authority by a unanimous vote,” says Holder. “We have been blessed with great visionaries on this Board in the past, and we have more than capable board members and staff today to carry on with that vision and continue to keep us on the right course.”

Holder noted that with the record residential and commercial growth that has come to Henry County over the past 20 to 30 years, the Water Authority has managed to stay ahead of the demand for water and sewer services thanks to the proper planning by the board and the dedication of the HCWA staff.

“We’re probably ahead of other communities and water utilities in our region in terms of dealing with growth, but we can’t rest on our past accomplishments; we must continue to plan ahead,” he says. “I think one of the greatest challenges in front of us is to secure adequate water supply for the future, because the growth is not stopping.”

In joining Holder as officers on the 2024 HCWA Board, Sandra Rozier and Myra Lott are continuing in their respective roles of Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer after serving in this same capacity last year.

Rozier is the first African American and Female Vice Chair in the history of the HCWA, beginning her tenure on the Board in 2021. She is an entrepreneur and the CEO of TeamHOPE, LLC.

Lott works as an Implementation-Professional II for FISERV, with offices in Alpharetta, Georgia. FISERV provides payment and financial services technology for individuals, small businesses, and financial institutions.

District 2 Member Bruce Holmes, District 3 Member Jimmy Carter, and At-Large Member Fred Mays also are experienced HCWA Board Members, having served previously.

Holmes joined the Board last year, and like Holder, is a former Henry County Commissioner. He is Vice President of Big “10” Construction & Development, LLC, as well as Owner and Executive Producer of Big “10” Media and South Metro TV.

Carter joined the HCWA Board in 2005, and he has served previously as Chairman, including last year. He and his family own and operate Southern Belle Farm in McDonough.

Finally, Mays was appointed as Member-at-Large in 2021. He has a 40-year career in law enforcement with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, where he retired as Director of Internal Affairs in 2020. However, he continues to work and consult part-time in this capacity.
