It's Drinking Water Week!
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) designates the first week in May as National Drinking Water Week.
For more than 40 years, AWWA and its members, such as the HCWA, have used Drinking Water Week as a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. This year’s celebration was scheduled for May 2-8, 2021.
In the state of Georgia, the water industry recognizes the first Monday of Drinking Water Week (May 3) as Water Professionals Appreciation Day. This year’s recognition is especially poignant, as water professionals are among those essential workers providing a public service during the pandemic.
Water operators work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide clean, safe drinking water. The HCWA is home to approximately 250 water professionals who work at the Headquarters campus at 1695 Highway 20 in McDonough, at a water production or wastewater treatment facility, or out in the field all across the county.
If you see a Henry County Water Authority employee, please thank them for the essential services they provide our community!
